More Than Just Surviving
Towards Living Wages and Living Incomes in Global Supply Chains
More than just surviving – Towards living wages and living incomes in global supply chains (2025)
Workers in global supply chains for high‑risk commodities such as coffee, tea, bananas, cotton and textiles earn barely half of what is needed to achieve a decent standard of living. Smallholder farmers often live below the poverty line. What are the root causes of these low wages, and what role can producers, consumers and everyone in between play in addressing the challenges? In this report, we take an in‑depth look at the supply chains for bananas and coffee. The report was launched in Sweden in 2025. Translated to English in 2026.
