Make or renew your Fairtrade Community commitment

Fairtrade Communities are groups of passionate people working together to fight for fairer trade and taking action in their local area. When you make a Fairtrade Community commitment, you’re joining a UK-wide network of groups who believe in trade justice and climate action. Every action matters, and together we can make a global impact. Whether you are just getting started or are renewing your Fairtrade commitment, being a Fairtrade Community is your roadmap to impact.

Who can become a Fairtrade Community?

Any group in a local area who are committed to trade justice can become a Fairtrade Community. If you share the Fairtrade values and are ready to take action for people and the planet, you belong in this movement.

All we ask is that you are either;

  • A group of at least three people in your local area
  • An existing campaigning community or group looking to expand into Fairtrade campaigns
  • A local council looking to lead your community activity

If you are ready to share your Fairtrade story, use the Fairtrade Communities Online Platform to tell us about what you have been up to and what you are planning for the future to fight for trade justice.

Why make a commitment?

Completing our form and receiving your personalised certificate as a Fairtrade Community has many benefits for your group!

  • Demonstrate your group’s commitment to justice and sustainability.
  • Help us celebrate and amplify the difference you are making.
  • Get resources and ideas to help you campaign effectively.
  • Join a network of like-minded groups across the UK to learn from and inspire.

How It Works

Becoming or renewing your Fairtrade Community commitment is simple:

  1. Gather your fellow Fairtrade supporters and select one person to be the key contact for your group – we will also need a secondary contact.
  2. Complete the online form, in about 30 minutes – sharing with us the actions you have taken to support Fairtrade so far and how you plan to in the future.
  3. Once we have reviewed your commitment, you’ll get a certificate recognising your group as a Fairtrade Community!
  4. Start Campaigning! It’s time to spread awareness, grow support, and drive change in your group and beyond.
