Call for candidates for the Standards Committee (workers’ rights expert)

Brief overview of tender

The Standards Committee is a sub-committee of the Fairtrade International Board and makes all decisions related to Standards and Prices. Fairtrade Standards and Prices are developed by Standards & Pricing in Bonn upon guidance and approval from the Standards Committee (SC). This Committee is composed by members representing the key stakeholders of Fairtrade - producers, traders, national Fairtrade organizations – as well as external experts. The SC has between 5 and 11 members and meets 3-4 times a year, usually in Bonn, typically for two days. The SC also holds 1-3 meetings per year by teleconferencing. Counting the time to prepare and attend meetings, to respond to e-mails and to undertake ad hoc work, the participation in the SC amounts to a total of around 20 days per year, excluding overseas travel time. In return, Fairtrade International reimburses all expenses for meeting travel and accommodation and offers a daily fee. For a full description of the responsibilities, mandate, composition, working principles and processes see the Terms of Reference. This page also gives additional information about the standards and pricing setting process.
