Why become a Fair Trade Ambassador?
As a Fair Trade Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to network and build connections with like-minded people, and use your influence to widen the fair trade community by engaging with other leaders. By strengthening your own fair trade community, you will play a direct role in ensuring that farmers in the Global South can live sustainable livelihoods and build stronger communities.
The Fair Trade Ambassador Program teaches people in different schools and campuses about fair trade, and helps them lead their own advocacy projects to further spread knowledge. By becoming a Fair Trade Ambassador in your school or campus, you will have the chance to get volunteer experience in a diversity of areas that relate to sustainability such as organizing events, completing research projects, presenting to classes or in conferences, writing articles for newspapers, running a campus-wide survey, managing social media channels, and so much more. Whatever you want to get experience in, there’s a way to do it as a Fair Trade Ambassador!
Requirements
Students who wish to become Fair Trade Ambassadors must complete 3 steps before they are eligible to receive their certificate and can start representing the Fair Trade Ambassador program on their campus. 1. Training: you must complete 2 online training modules, which take approximately 45 minutes each to go through. 2. Registration and Quiz: you must fill out an online application form and pass a quiz of 20 multiple choice questions with a score of at least 75%. 3. Certificate: once you have completed the quiz, Fairtrade Canada will send you your certificate by email and will communicate with your school’s program coordinator to let them know you have completed your training as a Fair Trade Ambassador​.
