New Fairtrade Minimum Price for cocoa in non-regulated markets
Fairtrade International has announced a new Fairtrade Minimum Price for cocoa.

Fairtrade cocoa beans from non-regulated markets will be traded at $3,500 per metric tonne from October 2025 onwards. The new price applies to all countries except Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. Prices for semi-processed products purchased directly from Fairtrade certified producer organisations in non-regulated markets have been adjusted accordingly.
New Fairtrade Minimum Prices for cocoa from regulated markets are expected to be set in the second half of 2025. The Fairtrade Premium and organic differential for all origins will be revised as part of this process. Until this revision is concluded, the Fairtrade Premium for cocoa remains at $240 per metric tonne and the differential for organic Fairtrade cocoa at $300 per metric tonne.
Even in current times of high market prices, the Fairtrade Minimum Price remains an important safety net for farmers. It provides protection when market prices fall and aims to buffer the effects of price volatility. When selling their products through Fairtrade, farmer organisations can rely on the Fairtrade Minimum Price and will receive the additional Fairtrade Premium to invest in projects of their choice.
Fairtrade prices are set through a transparent process which involves detailed research on the cost of sustainable production in several countries, as well as wide consultations with farmers and workers, businesses, and external experts. Final decisions are voted upon by the Standards Committee, a multi-stakeholder body within Fairtrade International.
