Fairtrade International’s CEO Lisa Prassack is stepping down from her role effective 7 October 2025.

Continuity and stability are of utmost importance, and our vision of a world in which all producers can enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods, fulfil their potential and decide on their future remains as critical as ever.

Therefore, the Fairtrade International Board has appointed  a long standing contributor of the Fairtrade System, Marike Runneboom de Peña, as interim CEO.

Marike Runneboom de Peña has more than 35 years of experience working with small producers in the Dominican Republic and held several positions within governance bodies across Fairtrade organisations. We are confident of her knowledge and abilities to lead the organisation during this transition period.
