Producer Advisory Note: Preparing Fairtrade Producer Organizations for potential El Niño conditions in the Asia-pacific region
New advisory equips Fairtrade producer organizations with practical guidance while laying the foundation for knowledge sharing, expert engagement and climate resilience.
Climate variability continues to pose increasing challenges for agricultural communities across Asia and the Pacific. With forecasts indicating that El Niño conditions could bring below-average rainfall, prolonged dry spells, heat stress, and other weather-related disruptions in several parts of the region, Fairtrade NAPP has developed a Producer Advisory to help farmers prepare for potential impacts and strengthen their resilience.
The advisory is part of a broader regional effort to ensure that producer organisations receive timely, practical and accessible information before the impacts of extreme weather become more severe. Developed through collaboration between Fairtrade NAPP's regional teams, the advisory brings together practical recommendations that producers can adapt to their local contexts and farming systems. It will be translated into local languages where required and disseminated to producer organisations and plantations across the region
