Right to a Dignified Life and Sustainable Livelihood Phase
In partnership with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, Fairtrade Africa designed this multiphase program to empower producers, improve livelihoods, and promote sustainable agriculture across Africa.
So far 2 phases of this project have been implemented.
Phase 1:
This phase took place from 2022 to 2024.

Phase 2:
Fairtrade Africa launched the NORAD II Programme in November 2024. This new phase builds on the initial milestones to continue creating resilient, dignified, and sustainable livelihoods.
The NORAD II project is focused on Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, and Malawi.
Projects implemented in phase 2 include:
- “Unlocking the Power of Male and Female Workers in Fairtrade Flowers Supply Chain” targeting 10 Fairtrade certified flower farms in Kenya.
- “Sustainable, Democratic, and Inclusive Cocoa Cooperatives in West Africa” implemented in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire within 20 cocoa cooperatives.
- “Unleashing women potential in the tea and sugar supply chains in Malawi” implemented in Malawi within 4 tea and sugar plantations.
- “Market access -CDI” implemented in Côte d'Ivoire within 10 cocoa cooperatives.
