B Lab

The partnership commits B Lab and Fairtrade to knowledge-sharing and collaborative efforts in the development of standards, advocacy, public campaigns and mobilisation, as well as the joint creation of special programmes and projects in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals as the world races towards the 2030 deadline, also known as Agenda 2030.

Fairtrade, CIFOR and ICRAF aim to leverage their combined expertise to protect the earth’s resources and build resilient environments. Our organisations are commit to advance nature-based solutions into key supply chains including coffee, cocoa and bananas. It fosters future mutual endeavors on advocacy and policy influencing, and collaboration on exchanging and co-developing knowledge and expertise on priority thematic areas such as climate and the environment, deforestation, and decent livelihoods. Fairtrade International and the initiative for coffee&climate (c&c) are collaborating on the c&c toolbox, a web app that provides coffee farmers with practical solutions to enhance the climate resilience of coffee production systems, foster biodiversity, promote reforestation, along with improving the food security of farming communities.

Global Deal

Fairtrade is a partner of the Global Deal, a global partnership led by the Swedish Government, ILO and OECD, that aims to contribute to Goals 8, 10 and 17 of the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. Fairtrade’s work on decent work, increased productivity, gender equality and inclusive growth will help contribute to the Global Goals’ aims of advancing economic and social justice.

Global Coalition for Social Justice

Fairtrade is part of the over 100 advisors to the International Labour Organisation’s Global Coalition for Social Justice to advance SDG8, including INGOs, UN agencies, worker organisations and government bodies. Through knowledge sharing and advocacy, this initiative seeks to reduce global inequalities, alleviate poverty and meet essential needs of workers in global value chains and beyond, by promoting international labour standards and social dialogue.

Fairtrade International is a founding member of the ISEAL Global Living Wage Coalition advocating to improve wage levels in certified supply chains. The long-term goal and shared mission of the Global Living Wage Coalition is to see improvements in workers' conditions, including wage levels, in the farms, factories and supply chains participating in our respective certification systems and beyond.

The Fairtrade Climate Standard was developed in collaboration with Gold Standard, an internationally recognised organisation with expertise in climate and development projects. The Fairtrade Climate Standard is an add-on standard to Gold Standard certification of carbon emissions reductions and sustainable development benefits.

IDH – The Sustainable Trade Initiative
International Cocoa Initiative

Fairtrade International joined the International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) as a Non-Profit Contributing Partner. The partnership enables the two organisations to learn from each other, improve their existing operating models, and reach more children and their families in cocoa-growing communities in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. The shared goal is to tackle child labour and enable child protection.

International Cooperative Alliance

Our partnership agreement with ICA focuses on joining forces to tackle the emerging areas of expertise needed towards creating impactful change for cooperatives worldwide, such as cooperative legal frameworks, agroecology, climate change, youth inclusion, gender equality, among others. It strengthens both organisations’ work on promoting inclusive and sustainable cooperatives and their communities through wealth creation and redistribution, democracy, empowerment.

International Trade Centre

We have a strategic partnership agreement with the International Trade Centre to build the resilience of producers resilience through dynamic agroforestry, livelihood diversification and market access. It was agreed following a successful joint pilot project in Ghana supporting cocoa producers to diversify their livelihoods through yam.
