Producer organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean make up about half of all Fairtrade certified organizations worldwide: by the end of 2018, there were 843 Fairtrade producer organizations in 24 countries throughout the region. More than 345,000 farmers and workers in the region make up about 20 percent of the global total in the Fairtrade system. Producers in the region earned €114 million in Fairtrade Premium in 2018 to spend on projects of their choice. Coffee and bananas are the highest selling Fairtrade products in the region, followed by cane sugar, cocoa and other fresh fruit.
