Producer organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean make up about half of all Fairtrade certified organizations worldwide: by the end of 2017, there were 803 Fairtrade producer organizations in 22 countries throughout the region. More than 335,000 farmers and workers in the region make up about 20 percent of the global total in the Fairtrade system. Producers in the region earned €121 million in Fairtrade Premium in 2017 to spend on projects of their choice. Coffee and bananas are the highest selling Fairtrade products in the region, followed by cane sugar, cocoa and other fresh fruit.
