In the high mountain landscapes of Timor-Leste, coffee farming is both a tradition and a lifeline. For generations, smallholder farmers have cultivated coffee on steep slopes, facing isolation, climate challenges, and unstable markets. Since becoming Fairtrade certified in 2017, the Cooperativa Comercio Agricola de Timor (C-CAT), a small-scale coffee farmers’ cooperative, has transformed these challenges into opportunities — driven by one powerful tool: the Fairtrade Premium.

Tical Tribal Multipurpose Cooperative, a small-scale coconut farmers’ organisation began its journey in 1994, when a small group of coconut farmers in Davao Occidental (Municipality of Malita)—a coastal, fertile region in the southern Philippines—came together out of a simple desire: to improve their livelihoods and sell coconuts at a fair local price. Every member brought with them half a hectare of land, modest gardening skills and tools, and a long-held hope that unity could open doors that individual farmers could not.

Producers from Fiji, Timor-Leste, and Papua New Guinea came together in Kuala Lumpur on 23 and 24 May 2026 for the Pacific Regional Conference and Product Network Meeting, electing new regional leadership, recognising long-standing producer service, and shaping coffee and sugar priorities for the years ahead.

On 4 March 2026, 100 members of the Fairtrade global system gathered online for an internal webinar titled "How does Fairtrade respond to human rights violations?" The session, organised by Fairtrade's Human Rights Due Diligence (HREDD) Centre of Excellence, brought together staff from Producer Networks (PNs), National Fairtrade Organisations (NFOs), and Fairtrade International (FI) to build a shared, consistent understanding of how Fairtrade manages grievance mechanisms and remediation.

Smallholder cane sugar farmers and cooperative leaders from three countries came together in Lautoka, Fiji in March 2026 for an event designed to do more than share updates. Over three days, from March 11 to 13, producers from India, the Philippines, and Fiji participated in a Sugar Product Network Meeting, Policy Advocacy Training, and Roundtable Discussion on EU Sustainability Regulations. The event was organized by Fairtrade NAPP and co-funded by European Union under the ECFFPA "The Future is Fair" project (2024-2027).
