Producer certification fund
Fairtrade International has created a fund to help small farmers' organizations pay for their Fairtrade certification. Please check the FLOCERT website for information on certification fees.
Overview of the criteria
Small farmers' organizations are eligible for a grant if they are applying for initial Fairtrade certification, but lack sufficient financial resources to pay the full certification fee. Grants are also available to small farmers' organizations that are renewing their certification.
Grants never fully cover certification fees and are intended as co-financing support. 1st grade small farmers' organizations may receive a grant of up to a maximum 75 % of their fee. 2nd and 3rd grade small farmers' organizations may receive up to a maximum of 50 % of their fee. These maximum rates are not guaranteed; if a large number of applications are received, the percentages might be reduced to allow more producers to benefit from a grant.
When do we apply for a grant?
You can apply for a grant once you have received an invoice for an inspection from FLOCERT.
Applications can be sent throughout the year. Applications received are reviewed six times a year, typically at the end of January, March, May, July, September, and November.
