Liaison Officers
The Producer Business Unitīs work is supported and facilitated by Liaison Officers based in producer countries. As of August 2006, there were 25 full time Liaison Officers in 16 different countries.
Core Responsibilities
Liaison Officers offer information, advice and training to producers, helping them comply with Fairtrade Standards and seize new market opportunities.
Liaison Officers also relay product and regional information of interest to the markets to FLO, in an effort to better anticipate demand and producer needs.
Tasks
- Seek new suppliers and products
- Introduce Fairtrade to producers
- Support work following inspections
- Source and liaise with support agencies
- Help coordinate the pricing process
- Provide information about local networks
- Represent Fairtrade in local workshops/conferences

Liaison Officers are currently supporting producers in the following countries. In most cases, Liaison Officers cover more than one country.
